A fan-made chronology of the adaptations in the ITV series "Agatha Christie's Poirot". Welcome!
I think it looks like "1935" that's almost fully obscured by the dirt.
Hi Andy! Thank you for the comment! Yes, I agree "1935" seems likely. To be honest, though, the producers had already set two episodes in July 1935, i.e. DEATH IN THE CLOUDS (visible date in newspaper: "5 Juillet 1935") and THE ADVENTURE OF THE CLAPHAM COOK (visible date on checque: "July 11th 1935"). Since the year is only partially visible in this one, I think I still want to keep it in 1929, simply because having two stories set in July that close to each other is one thing, having THREE is just too much... (as always, I am more than just a little annoyed that no one in the production team bothered to check for continuity errors on these episodes... Ah well.)
Thanks for the quick reply.Yep, I can see your reasoning on this one. Three stories at the same time would be a stretch. Little clashes like these will always slip through the cracks in the heat of production I suppose.
Sorry, hate to ruin this one but the earlier funeral scene shows the coffin much clearer and the year is very clearly on-screen as 1935. In fact, watching from the start of the series this is by far the most explicit year to be shown so far. I'd be more inclined to ignore the Clapham Cook date than this one considering how blatant it is.
